LDEI Dinner and a Movie

March 22 – Atlanta Daylight Studio
This year marked the 11th annual Les Dames d’Escoffier Dinner and a Movie event. It was an evening that celebrated women in food, from the featured movies to the dishes presented. Guests arrived to Atlanta Daylight Studios, a beautifully repurposed Shell Oil facility, just as the sun began to set and the light was perfectly golden. An elaborate display of artisan cheeses greeted the Dames and their companions, followed by a brief introduction to the evening’s theme.
Owner Cathy Conway selected three short films from the Southern Foodways Alliance archives; JoAnn Clevenger: A Girl Scout with Gumption, Southern Betty Brunch, and Phila. Conway invited her female counterparts from Avalon to introduce the small plates that they’d prepared for guests to enjoy between and during films. Each dish was symbolic to the woman who prepared it.
