An Atlanta Wedding with Local, Seasonal Food

The farm-to-table movement is now a mainstream part of American culture. You can see it in upscale cafés, restaurant menus across the country and in the heart of our Atlanta catering business and philosophy.

Creating wedding menus with a majority of local products not only helps sustain our neighboring small businesses but also ensures that you and your guests will have the absolute best food at your wedding. You, too, will feel good knowing you have partnered with an environmentally and socially conscious Atlanta catering company.

The Avalon Experience: Southern by Nature

The Avalon experience is a one-of-a-kind Atlanta wedding catering service emphasizing food quality, full flavor and supreme event planning. Your out-of-town guests are probably expecting a Southern-style menu, but our wedding menus are a little different. And the main difference is in our approach to “Southern food.”

The term “Southern food” conjures thoughts of savory chicken and waffles or shrimp and grits. As an alternative to those, we offer dishes with locally sourced ingredients, meaning it is Southern by nature. For example, our open-faced BLT with H&F buttered brioche topped with creamy mayo, Woodland heirloom tomato, Crystal Organics arugula and Pine Street Market bacon is a unique Southern dish. The D&A creamed spinach fritters are also a hit, as the fresh taste of veggies pairs well with the familiar taste of a fritter.

We list the farm’s name next to each menu item, because giving credit to them is the least we can do. Their products play a big part in making our food so mouthwatering and delicious.

Seasonal Atlanta Specialties

It goes without saying that our wedding menus are seasonally driven. We can work with each couple to include their favorite ingredients, and each season offers something special. A family-style meal, a dinner buffet or a plated meal are wonderful options for whatever wedding season you choose.

Local Ingredients in Regional Recipes

Many couples struggle with choosing a wedding menu. There’s a catering budget, guests with specific food allergies and millions of flavors and tastes from which to choose. Our main advice is to pick food that means the most to you. If you are happy, everyone else will follow suit.

Southern ingredients pair well with traditional regional recipes. For example, you may want a wedding menu with South American, Southern Italian, or South Korean flare, and we can create it to perfection. One of our wedding planners can meet with you individually to incorporate your cultural tastes into your custom Atlanta wedding menu.

Building Community with Farm-to-Table Wedding Food

Supporting the sustainable farming culture in Atlanta does not end with the business transaction. In fact, we cooked delicious food at the Georgia Organics Farmer’s Feast as a way to keep in touch with our partners in the community. In April, Avalon Catering cooked at the Love is Love Farm for the event Taking it to the Farm. It is a fundraiser to support the Farmers Benefits Project, which aims to redesign the health insurance model for Georgia’s organic farmers. We served gorgeous plates of local, savory smoked carrots and pickled beets, green garlic and herb salsa, spicy baby greens and pumpkin seed brittle that were absolutely stunning. Whether it’s catering the freshest food in Atlanta or doing advocacy work with large organizations like Georgia Organics, Avalon always shows a whole-hearted commitment to the farm-to-table movement.
